Poster Contest
The Fine Arts Fiesta is pleased to announce the winners of this year's Fiesta 2010, "Fiesta @55 Enjoy…Enjoy," Poster Contest. Chairperson, Debbie Grossman notes this year’s contest had 189 entries from students grades 3 through 12. Local art teachers deserve credit for encouraging their students to enter the contest. Mr. Ken Marquis, owner of Marquis Art and Frame, Wilkes-Barre, sponsored prizes for the three highest award categories for this year’s contest: first place $100; two second place awards of $50: and third place $25. Eight honorable mention awards will be provided by the Fine Arts Fiesta. Ms. Sara Hansen, director for Luzerne County’s public libraries, coordinated the collection of all poster entries for this year’s contest through the Osterhout Public Library. Each year the Fine Arts Fiesta stages a four-day event celebrating the arts on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, PA. The 2010 Fine Arts Fiesta will run from May 20 through May 23. The awards ceremony for all the poster contest winners will be held on Public Square, Wilkes-Barre, May 20th, at 6:30 PM.
This year’s contest winners are: first place, Trisha Tyson GAR High School; second place, Olivia Davison Holy Redeemer High School; third place, Melissa Wallace West Side Vo-tech High School. Honorable mention winners are: Rebeca Aguila GAR High School; Julia Ash West Side Vo-tech High School; Maritza Hernandez Meyers High School; Cora Van Kirk Crestwood High School; Amanda Jo Lange Crestwood High School; Julia Miller Meyers High School; Emily Sepela Crestwood High School; and Hayley Smith Coughlin High School.
